While I won't go through all the pitfalls of bridging Gallery2 and Joomla, I will make mention of a few items and include configuration screen shots that show how I got it to work without much trouble. I made several attempts that required reinstalling and configuring JFusion several times. Configuration of the Joomla bridge component required approximately 30-45 minutes of time.
Here are some notes. Ask questions if you need Joomla help or simply go to JFusion for more info.
JOOMLA JFUSION GALLERY2 BRIDGE COMPONENT INTEGRATION
- JFUSION PLUGIN CONFIGURATION - Gallery 2 set to master. There is no slave. I don't know if this is ideal. But it works.
- NEW USER SYNC - I did not do the following: "Please configure at least one master and one slave before running the usersync tool."
- USER SYNC HISTORY - I did not do the following: "No usersync data could be retrieved. Most likely because a usersync has not been run yet."
- WRAPPED / FRAMELESS NAVIGATION - Be sure to navigate through every photo gallery album. Otherwise, expect your website visitors to jump out of your wrapped gallery2 Joomla photo gallery. This issue may be exclusive to default Joomla SEF but may be present for non-SEF as well as other Joomla SEF extensions. It is not necessary to navigate through every specific photo. Just the albums.
So, the DIRT FORGE Photo Gallery working. Although it is setup as an e-commerce photo gallery, it is unlikely I will actually use it as a photo gallery shopping cart system but merely to display photos of interest that we've shot. Yes. I hire other photographers to help on certain assignments.
Now, it is time to integrate a few other client websites where I have taken the time to install Gallery2 into Joomla. I have already configured Gallery2 on those web servers and uploaded the photos. Integration into Joomla shall be the job of the day.
The aim for these client photo galleries is to reel in related search engine targeted traffic through search engine results pages for related keyword searches. Sure, flash photo galleries have their purpose. But a search engine optimization (SEO) photo gallery is a long term resource for reeling in traffic and increasing the brand exposure across associated markets throughout the web. These photo galleries will provide for an increased pages-per-visit ratio, taking the 1-2 pages per visit to one site to somewhere around 8-10. The other sites have better pages-per-visit ratios and will undoubtedly increase with the new addition. The effort will also increase brand marketing exposure of the businesses and their strategic partners. It will acquire new visitors outside of the industry. The sites in question are motorsports related and include race team websites and action sports business websites. They also boast social media assets and several will feature live streaming video on occasion.
It's time to think outside the box. It's time to perform some Search Engine Target Marketing (SETM) or is it Search Engine Optimized Target Marketing (SEOTM). No matter which, it's time to get back into gear and back to work. See you at the SNORE Mint 400 iconic desert off-road race for some photos.
